Composer John Henry Theisen (born 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska), the son of James and Mary Elizabeth Theisen, began Suzuki piano lessons at age 6. When John Henry was 12, his gifted teacher, Pamela Fusselman, encouraged all her students to develop their own compositions for a special recital she was planning. With her guidance and support, John Henry composed “Solitude.” He drew his inspiration for the music from a December trip to his uncle’s cabin in the forests of Michigan. On that trip, he went on many hikes enjoying the unusually mild winter temperatures. The woods were quiet and peaceful.

John’s schooling began in Omaha at St. Robert Grade School and continued at Creighton Prep High School. In 2013, John Henry entered Creighton University planning to major in Emergency Medicine, and work as a paramedic. He continued to play piano when his schedule permitted.

Among his favorite composers is Vince Guaraldi. He enjoys a wide variety of music including the Beatles, Classic Rock, John Mayer and Country Western. He is an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of his high school State Champion Trap Shooting team.
