Göran Rygert is a Swedish architect, composer, arranger and musician, born on May 1, 1935 in Flisby, province of Jönköping, Sweden. Since 1993, he now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

In 1961, Rygert earned a Master of Architecture at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. A parallel interest along with architecture has been music, particularly folk music songs and ballads. He set to music about 20 texts of the Swedish songwriter Ruben Nilson. In the 1980’s, Rygert, together with Lars Weinhardt, explored and mapped out the folk music from the Swedish island of Öland, resulting in the Ölands Folkliga Visor och Melodier Genom Tide. In the 1990’s, Rygert carried out an extensive study of Swedish architects who immigrated to the United States, resulting in his book, Swedish Architect in the United States.

For many years, Rygert worked as a freelance editor for Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia AB, Stockholm, Swe- den. During that period of time, he was responsible for about 20 songbooks. He also authored a number of other books as well. In 2004, he released a CD, Visituder with his own music using the lyrics of well-known Swedish poets.
