Tim Rumsey (b. 1977), composer and arranger, directs the music program at Bass Memorial Academy in Lumberton, Mississippi, a position he has held since 2009. His prior experience included positions at Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia, Eastern Mennonite University, and the University of Georgia.

He gained recognition for his gifts as a composer and arranger while still a student at Union College. A brass player, Rumsey played in the band and UC’s sextet during his time there as a music major under Steve Hall. He graduated from UC in 2000 and subsequently completed an M.Mus. in theory and composition at James Madison University.

In 2008, he founded Laudation Music, a publisher of sacred, educational, and contemporary music. His music has been performed in numerous churches and schools in the U.S., by the Union College Concert Winds, Brass Union and Unionaires, and at the 2000 General Conference Session in Toronto, Canada.

He has released two CDs, Hymns for Brass, featuring arrangements of best-loved hymns for brass ensemble, and Emmanuel, a collection of orchestral/choral Christmas music performed by Paradigm Vocal Ensemble and other musicians. These CDs and music for his arrangements and compositions are available from Mark Foster Music, Alliance Publications, and Laudation Music.

Rumsey is currently completing a D.M.A. (A.B.D.) in composition from The University of Georgia. His dissertation, Neither Life Nor Death, will be an oratorio based on Romans 8.
