Pál Rózsa was born March 14, 1925 in Szombathely, Hungary. From 1949, he lived in Kaposva where his schooling and music and his international education took place. He graduated from Moscow University as a chemical engineer in 1970 after which he occupied various posts in industry, foreign trade, and the National Planning Office. After this he became a music proof reader for Editio Musica Budapest. Since 1986, he had been a free lance composer. 

 

Pál Rósza studied composition at the Liszt Ference Music Academy in Budapest, Hungary. He is a member of the Group of Young Composers from 1984-1989, a member of the Hungarian Composers Union since 1984, Hungarian Music Society and Hungarian Association of Wind since 1990. 

 

Sixteen awards from national international composers’ competitions have been awarded to Pál Rózsa for his works. He has received international performances in France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Canada, USA, Denmark, Poland, Great Britain. He occupied various posts in Austria, Greece, Bugaria, Belareus, Republic of South Africa, Hong Kong, Argentina, etc.

 

Rózsa’s works have been recorded by Hungaroton Records Ltd, one work by Hungarian Radio Records and six by the composer’s own production. A one act opera, Terzett Budapest, Hungary. He has premiered on Hungarian Television and numerous other works were premiered on Hungarian Radio. His Introduzione e Ceapriccio premiered in the World Music Days of ISCM in Hong Kong.

 

Many works have  been commissioned by renowned musicians in Hungary and abroad.
