Roberto Clemente Walker was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico in 1934, the youngest son of 7 children of Melchor and Luisa Clemente. Growing up in poverty, he turned to sports at a young age. A natural athlete, his instinctive skills led him to a sport he would dominate over 18 magnificent seasons in major league baseball.

Nicknamed “Momen” by one of his cousins, Roberto grew up to become one of baseball’s finest players and a hero to millions—not only for his greatness on a baseball diamond, but with his heartfelt desire to help others less fortunate.
