GAUDETE ET EXULTATE, op. 289 by Zdeněk Lukáš (1928-2007) is a beautiful setting of the “Beati” (“Blessed”) statements from Matthew 5:12, 4-6, 8.  Composed with Latin text in Prague in 1996 by this internationally renowned composer for SSAA a cappella Choir. Grade: D Duration 9:15

TRANSLATION:

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in the heavens. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be consoled; rejoice and be glad! Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice for they will be filled. Blessed are the meek for they will possess the land. Blessed are the clean of heart for they will see God. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is abundant in heaven.
