MEDITATION by Robert James Dvorak is a substantial piece of harmonic beauty introducing string players to this composer. Originally written as an in-between movement for a sacred cantata entitled, The Nativity, this composition becomes an effective piece for orchestra in concert. It exhibits not only a variety of emotional content but affords both players and audience a pleasant experience. All sections of the strings are privy to special passages which they enjoy playing as well as being both contrapuntally challenging and satisfying. The work reaches a climax and subsides peacefully.
