MORNING SUNRISE by Ed Doemland (1938-2012) and arranged by Joel Blahník is based on the plainchant Easter Sequence “Victimae Paschali Laudes” (Mode 1). This beautiful work has parts for varying abilities of players. However, the challenge is playing with a sense of flow as chant uses groups of twos and threes and not a steady metric beat, hence the artistry and beauty of the work.
