$15.00
Description
SHADOW PLAY is by Jim Scheuer. An ideal cross-cultural teaching piece, this work in the pentatonic D-minor scale lends itself to use as an improvisational and/or compositional tool. “Shadow Play” is based on Gamelan music from Bali, an island of Indonesia, and is a starting point for the use of these scales in indigenous and folk music of many cultures. A minimum of 6 Percussion players is required and are mainly ostinatos. Brass and Woodwinds perform Balinese Flute parts and a chant melody as well as some of the Gamelan ostinatos and parts meant to evoke an image of the island of Bali. Concert Band. Score. Grade: 3 Duration: 6:30
Performance tips are in the Resources tab.
