THREE LOVELY THINGS by R. Paul Drummond (1947-2007) uses text by Daniel Friderici (1584-1638) for TBB a cappella Choir. Grade: M Duration: 1:48

TEXT: —

Within our hearts we cherish Three Lovely Things and fine.

They banish pain and sorrow When these three do combine.

Sweet music will please,

A charming view one sees,

A cool and sparkling glass of wine:

These are the three good things so fine

With which I take my ease.

The first of these comes to us

From that good instrument

Whose art we now have mastered

And can new tunes invent.

And next a gift so rare,

A maiden young and fair.

The third good thing comes from our host,

Who leads us in this welcome toast,

“Away with pain and care. Give us three lovely things so fine.”
