The Battle Of Austerlitz – Band Sc – Band

THE BATTLE OF AUSTERLITZ by Evžen Zámečník (1939-2018) is a landmark composition of paramount significance. Based upon authentic signals and musical commands of the 3 fighting armies (Russia, France and Austria). Russia, France and Austria – these statements are set against one another by means of polytonality and other musical devices. The image of the horrors of war is offset by a musical prayer. The increasing dramatic tension and intensity of sound culminate with the tune of “Marseillaise” as a symbol of victory of Napoleon’s troops which eventually changes into a meditative commemoration of the innumerable victims. Comparable to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture in terms of dramatic passion and portrait! A fantastic tool with which to complement the study Central European history of 200 years ago! Concert Band. Score. Grade: 5 Duration: 11:00
