TWO MINIATURES FOR STRING ORCHESTRA by David Lukáš has two movements. “Fantasia” on the “Svaty Václave” choral is a dramatic musical statement based upon an old 12th century chant theme that has been used countless times for centuries by many Czech composers. In a minor key with moving Cello and Contrabass lines, this work is obtainable for fine Junior High orchestras! It possesses great drama and sizzle. “Roll Over, Roll” is an adaptation of a Czech folk song in B minor. Fresh, energetic writing in an Andantino tempo makes this composition interesting and fun for the musicians, a concept which is dear to the composer’s intent. Bowings are edited in and trills, accents and chromaticism all assist in shaping this work to be a wonderful musical excursion. Designed for Junior and Senior High School ensembles. String Orchestra.
